Missions of the Maison des Savoir-Faire

The Maison des Savoir-Faire is aimed at all kinds of visitors, whether local, young, craftsmen or tourists.

The cultural center

Visitors to the Osier-Vannerie Cultural Center can discover the skills and know-how of our craftsmen in a “living” exhibition space. The program includes :

  • temporary exhibitions, designed to link basketry with other arts and crafts, such as the exhibition on village artisans on display at the inauguration,
  • workshops and demonstrations during the school vacations,
  • an artist-in-residence, hosted each year in partnership with the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles,
  • one-off events, such as participation in the European Artistic Crafts Days or the Journées du Patrimoine et des Savoir-Faire.

A shared space for craftsmen

For artisans, the former property of a basket-maker recently acquired by the commune will be transformed into a shared space. It will comprise workshops, a meeting place, and a space for co-creation and welcoming groups. Artisans will be able to practice their craft while giving demonstrations and selling their creations directly.

Centralizing craft-related tourism offers

Ultimately, the Maison des Savoir-Faire is also intended to centralize and promote all craft-related tourist offers in the Centre Val de Loire region.

Promoting craft careers among young people

For young people, schoolchildren and apprentices alike, the Maison des Savoir-Faire will be a place where they can find out more about the arts and crafts sector and find out about available training courses. It will also be possible to bring in craftspeople to present their skills and career opportunities.
