Exposition
“Un corps libre”: by first-year DNMADe MODE students from Lycée Choiseul (Tours) in partnership with the Maison des Savoir-Faire de Villaines les Rochers.
In the history of costume and fashion, wicker has a significant place; it has enabled the construction of clothing structures that are both light and imposing, as in the “basket dresses” of Louis XVI or the crinolines of the Second Empire.
This “orthopedics of appearances”, which has now disappeared, nevertheless invites us to reflect on the way our bodies inhabit space: how is it possible to allow the body to apprehend the “simplicity” of its existence, of its movements? And how can clothing accompany this quest for freedom, including by crossing it with more rigid elements such as wicker?
In this exhibition, the students present pieces that question this “free body”, combining textile and plant-based techniques.
